THE YELLOW MEAL

Today's word as part of The August Break is YELLOW.  I originally thought of sharing some of my favorite yellow plants, but I just couldn't get this one special memory out of my head. When my daughter was four or five she loved mixing her macaroni and cheese with her corn, then proudly called it the yellow meal.  Oddly, a local restaurant now has a side dish with these two ingredients.  Maybe she was onto something.

ANOTHER SET OF VEGETABLES

My last bit of diving into the past...my tagged vegetables (back in 2012).  I love the idea of scrapbooking, but never have the time to do it, so this is my attempt to add those cute little doo-dads on something.

These illustrations are also available on cards in my Etsy Shop. You can take a peek here.

Thanks for reminiscing with me!

A SET OF HERBS

Here are some more illustrations from the past...a set of herbs that I eventually made into a poster. These are just a few from that collection back in 2011.

RASPBERRIES IN A BOX

I am so excited! We planted our first raspberry shrubs!  Though it may take a couple of years to enjoy these sweet, red fruits - I'll attempt to be patient.  We'll just relish the strawberries we planted last year for now.

PANCAKES AND SYRUP

I couldn't help myself...I made the entire box of pancake mix on Monday, so we could indulge in pancakes and syrup all week.

LAMB AND MINT JELLY

Though I'm not a big fan of this pairing, it's my father-in-law's favorite. To be honest, I never heard of this interesting combination until I married into the Orgler clan.

KETCHUP AND FRIES

Valentine's day made me start thinking about great pairs...well, at least great food pairs.  So I asked everyone on my Facebook page about their favorite tasty pairings. The results will show up over the next few weeks.

The first popular couple is ketchup and fries.  I just can't eat fries without this famous partner.

Merry Christmas!

Happy holidays everyone!  I wrote this post a few days ago so I could enjoy spending time with family today, but this illustration shows my secret wish of fancy hot cocoa packets appearing in my Christmas stocking.  I'll let you know if I lucked out.

Oak & Gourd

The beautiful weather and bright leaves made me want to draw some autumn images...so you'll see some pop up over the next few days.

I'm thirsty

I was inspired to share my favorite drink today (ta-da!)...water! It's probably not exciting to most of you, but I do love a tall glass of water filled with ice to sip on all day.

Oregano

I am currently working with Gourmet Garden creating herb botanical prints, so thought I'd celebrate these special plants over the next couple of weeks. Have I mentioned how much I love the herbs from Gourmet Garden?  They transformed my cooking this summer by introducing me to ginger, lemon grass and red pepper (among the many traditional herbs and spices).  Yum!

Just Eat Cake

The next couple of weeks is about celebrating birthdays at our house.  All three of our kids (we planned well!) have birthdays within a couple of weeks of each other.  To celebrate, I've planned a few illustrations around the sweet and tasty cake.
